doop showed up today: an open-source alternative to Paper.design, a multiplayer design canvas where humans and AI agents work on the same document live, with MCP built in.
MCP is the part worth stopping on. Most agent-and-design setups right now are screenshot loops, the model looks at a picture of your canvas and writes you a paragraph about what it would change. A canvas that exposes itself over MCP hands the agent the document instead: layers, structure, the object graph. The response comes back as an edit rather than a description of one.
Which moves the difficulty somewhere less glamorous. Once a model can write into a shared canvas next to three people, the open questions are the old collaborative-editing ones. Whose change wins on a conflict. What undo means when the thing being undone was produced by an agent mid-session. Whether a designer opening the file tomorrow can tell at a glance which layers were not made by a human.
It is at 355 stars and the description does not say how any of that is handled. That is the first thing I would go read in the repo.
