PENDING MEMBERSHIPS, NOW CLAIMED
The Front Wire now preserves memberships until subscribers create an account
The Front Wire gives people who follow breaking news a daily email with eight top items, each linked to its source. The wire and digest are free, and membership costs $3 a month for the full searchable archive without ads.
A paid membership used to disappear when someone subscribed before creating an account. The checkout succeeded, but there was no profile to update, so I had nowhere to attach the entitlement. I changed that flow to park the membership until the email registers, while a cancellation with no profile stays a no-op.
The digest still shows each headline, category, source and summary. I kept the archive access separate from the email itself. what membership updates do existing profile buys membership: profile becomes active buyer pays before signup: pending membership saved buyer later registers: pending plan claimed cancellation has no profile: no entitlement written The membership now survives signup order, while a cancellation cannot create a stale free entitlement.
